The lectures can be received through Adobe Connect Pro software with any computer meeting the requirements. All the lectures are given through this videoconferencing software.

Weekly tasks

Given in the course and submitted following the teacher's instructions.

Credits

The minimum amount of lectures taken (with tasks) to give credits of this course is 2 lectures, giving 2 ECTS when the weekly tasks have been submitted. After that, the calculation is proportional related to the SoSE criteria of 8 lectures producing 6 ECTS. The lectures can be collected during several academic years.

Course description

Teaching language: The language of the course is the language which is mastered by all the participants (Finnish or English).

Objectives: The main objective of the course is to introduce concepts and approaches that can be generally expected to be known in software engineering research. In addition, the course contains some guidance in writing reseach articles and theses.

Teaching: The course consists of remote lectures and weekly assignments based on the lectures. The course requires active participation in the lectures, and returning of lecture diaries (summaries) or other tasks given by the lecturers.

Length and credits: The size of the course is 2-6 ECTS depending on how many lectures the student takes. The course is expected to be continuous with new topics in the schedule in the Spring of 2009.

Prerequisities: The course is aimed to M.Sc. and postgraduate students in software engineering or related field.
