Research
I am a researcher in the Research Group for Emotions, Sociality, and Computing which is part of the TAUCHI unit at the University of Tampere. My educational background is in human-computer interaction, in which I received my M.Sc. degree in 2005. Currently I’m doing my doctoral research in the UCIT graduate school where I started in the beginning of the year 2006.

My PhD research focuses on studying emotional experiences in human-computer interaction (HCI). I have studied what kind of emotional responses different emotional stimuli - such as pictures, sounds, videos, and music - evoke in people by examining heart rate responses and subjective emotional experiences. My research interests include studying how technology can contribute to social and emotional well-being, how physiological responses can be used to understand the users' experiences, and what kind of value affective computing can bring to HCI.
